The 51 Community College Board of Trustees has given President Dr. Bryan Newton an overall rating of “outstanding” in his first-year performance review.
The Board evaluated Dr. Newton in six categories: fiscal management, external relations, internal relations, leadership, institutional performance, personal qualities, and relations with the Board. The review also measured his progress toward goals set at the start of his presidency and his success in advancing the college’s mission and vision.
“Dr. Newton has quickly established himself as an engaged, visible, and collaborative leader,” said Bruce Gosling, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “His commitment to student success, fiscal responsibility, and innovative program development has positioned the college well for the future.”
Since taking office on July 22, 2024, Dr. Newton has:
- Expanded workforce training partnerships
- Strengthened enrollment outreach
- Guided the college through its Higher Learning Commission accreditation review
- Supported progress on the multi-phase campus renovation project
“I’m grateful for the support of the Board, my leadership team, and the entire Glen Oaks community,” said Dr. Newton. “This first year has been about listening, learning, and working together to build on the college’s strong foundation. I look forward to continuing that work in the years ahead.”
