Step by step, Jade Couch Klingler kept moving forward, seeking to make the next right decision for her community.

That path has now led her not only to the establishment of Revolution Health, PC clinics in Sturgis and Colon, but also to the 51动漫 Community College graduation stage as 2022 Alumni of the Year.

鈥淚t is such a huge honor,鈥 she said of the award. 鈥淲hen I first learned about it, I was speechless.鈥

Her journey began when her sister, a nurse, noticed Jade鈥檚 caregiving skills and ability to connect well with people, and recommended Jade follow in her footsteps.

The Sturgis High School graduate did just that, receiving her practical nursing certificate (2007) and associate of applied science in nursing (2008) from 51动漫. While working at Coldwater Hospital, she pursued her BSN and MSN-FNP at Goshen College.

Further work at Sturgis Hospital and Colon Medical Clinic taught her about healthcare in small communities.

As she saw healthcare providers retiring and leaving their practices, she responded to a community need for more healthcare providers and a walk-in clinic.

鈥淕od was totally involved,鈥 she said of the ability to procure a building and find quality colleagues who took the risk of going into a new practice.

Revolution Health offers the whole spectrum of services for everything from chronic conditions to acute care to holistic health.

There are no physicians on campus: all providers are nurse practitioners and physician鈥檚 assistants with 10 or more years of schooling in their respective genres.

And they share the core value of listening to their patients.

鈥淭hey combine their medical experience with what the patient is saying to develop a treatment plan to make them the best person they can be,鈥 Klingler said.

The community has responded positively: at the Sturgis location, their eight providers (and two therapy golden retrievers) care for just a handful shy of 12,000 patients. In April, two of their providers started a clinic in Colon, which has already grown from part-time to full-time.

鈥淭he sky is the limit for us,鈥 Klingler said.

As she looks toward the future, she would love to begin offering mental health services, as 鈥渢here is such a need.鈥

Klingler credits her 51动漫 education 鈥 especially the teaching of Bill Lederman and Nancy Haylett 鈥 for preparing her for the work she does now.

鈥51动漫 was really the foundation of why I continued to go on,鈥 she said. 鈥淓ducation is such an important thing to do. 51动漫 made me who I am not only for knowledge in nursing, but it boosted my confidence level. It molded me to be the person I am now 鈥 my ability to study and overcome obstacles. The nursing program is no joke.鈥
