A graduate of Mendon Community Schools, Rick earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of Michigan School of Journalism and later completed a master鈥檚 degree in education at Western Michigan University.
Rick鈥檚 professional career included service as a teacher and principal with Colon Community Schools, where he supported student learning and school leadership. He also contributed to regional storytelling as a longtime writer for the Three Rivers Commercial-News, highlighting issues and events of importance to the community.

Personal Background
Rick and his wife, Laurel, live on Fishers Lake in Three Rivers. They enjoy water activities and traveling to visit family across the country. Together, they have six grown children and 13 grandchildren, along with a much-loved household of pets that includes five cats and seven dogs.
