Register for Classes
Registering for classes is how you officially begin each semester at 51¶¯Âþ.
Before You Register
New students must complete:
- Application for Admission
- New Student Orientation
- Placement Evaluation (if required)
How to Register
Once eligible, you can:
- Register through the my51¶¯Âþ portal
- Submit a registration form through Etrieve
- Pay tuition in full or set up a payment plan
Students are not admitted to class until registration is complete.
Academic Calendar & Registration Timeline
51¶¯Âþ operates on a semester system:
- Fall and Winter semesters (15 weeks each)
- Summer sessions with flexible start and end dates
Registration dates and deadlines are published each semester.
Course Load & Enrollment Status
Your course load impacts your timeline and student status.
- Full-time: 12 or more credit hours
- Part-time: Less than 12 credit hours
- Recommended full load: 15–16 credits per semester (to graduate in two years)
Taking more than 18 credits requires:
- Approval from an academic advisor
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Student Classification
Your classification is based on completed credits:
- Freshman: Fewer than 28 credit hours
- Sophomore: 28 or more credit hours
Add or Drop Classes
Need to adjust your schedule? You can add or drop classes within specific deadlines.
Important Guidelines
- Courses cannot be added after 10% of the academic period has passed
- You cannot add a class if you’ve missed the equivalent of one week of instruction
- All schedule changes must be completed through:
- my51¶¯Âþ, or
- Etrieve (Drop/Add form)
The date your form is processed determines:
- Refund eligibility
- Transcript record status
It is strongly recommended that you speak with an advisor or instructor before making changes.
Tuition & Payment
To complete your registration:
- Tuition must be paid in full
- A payment plan must be established
